Reciprocal Requirements

Licensed architects from other states are welcome to apply for reciprocity and become licensed in California. In addition to completing the initial license requirements, you must maintain a current and valid license or registration in another U.S. jurisdiction or current and valid NCARB Certificate . All reciprocity candidates must submit a California Architect Reciprocity Application.

In addition to the requirements above, if you are licensed or registered in a foreign country, you must have a current and valid certification issued by the NCARB and apply through the NCARB Certification process.

If you are licensed in California and are seeking reciprocity in another state, requirements vary. When the Board is contacted by the other state board, the necessary information will be provided.
